The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) said on Friday it had expanded the area of Saudi Arabian airspace where it recommends airlines not to operate. The move follows attacks by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi movement, including strikes near Riyadh airport.
The update extends a conflict zone information bulletin first issued on September 30, 2026. The regulator said recent attacks demonstrated the Houthis' ability and intent to strike targets deeper inside Saudi territory, including the Riyadh, Tabuk and Yanbu areas.
EASA has advised operators to avoid the affected airspace at all levels, citing risks including missile and drone activity and aircraft interception. The bulletin remains in effect through November 16, 2026.
The warning follows a rise in Houthi missile and drone strikes on Saudi Arabia since September, and comes after the group warned airlines against using Saudi airspace.
