U.S. federal aviation regulators have cleared the Boeing 737 MAX 10 to fly, allowing airlines to begin preparing the largest and longest member of the 737 MAX family for passenger service.

The MAX 10 is Boeing's longest single-aisle jet, designed to carry more passengers than the smaller MAX 8 and MAX 9 models already in service around the world.

Certification of the MAX 10 had been delayed for years, extending well beyond the timeline Boeing originally outlined, making its approval a long-awaited milestone for the manufacturer.

With the clearance in place, Boeing can begin delivering the aircraft to customers, though the company has not specified which airline will receive the first example.
