Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is nearing a deal to supply the Indian Air Force with six aerial refueling aircraft, a transaction valued at approximately $900 million, according to reports in the Indian media cited by CTech.

Under the planned arrangement, IAI would convert commercial airframes into Multi-Mission Tanker Transport (MMTT) aircraft for the Indian Air Force. The state-owned Israeli firm reportedly stood out as the sole qualifying bidder in the tender process.

The new tankers are intended to replace India's ageing Il-78 fleet and expand the air force's aerial refueling capacity, extending the reach of frontline fighters.

The agreement has not yet been finalized and is described by the sources as nearing completion.
