Qatar Airways has retired its last Airbus A330 passenger jets and seconded some pilots to Rwanda's flag carrier, RwandAir, Reuters reported, citing two people with knowledge of the matter and flight data.

The airline confirmed that A330 pilots were being offered voluntary, short-term assignments with RwandAir. The jets had sat idle for several months before the retirement was completed.

The move comes as the prolonged Iran war disrupts Gulf aviation and accelerates the global phase-out of older, less fuel-efficient aircraft.
