Two Air Force pilots safely ejected from their aircraft on Thursday during what Joint Base San Antonio described as a controlled bailout near Seguin, Texas.

The pilots ejected from a T-6A Texan II just before 6 p.m. following a hard landing at an uncontrolled airfield, according to a JBSA news release.

After receiving unsafe landing gear indications, the pilots consulted with experts, who recommended the controlled bailout. The Wilson County Sheriff's Office said there is no threat to the public.

The pilots are assigned to the 12th Flying Training Wing and were being evaluated by medical personnel.
