The United States is deploying a third aircraft carrier strike group to the Middle East, according to reports citing US officials.

The USS Theodore Roosevelt and its strike group have departed San Diego and are expected to arrive in the region in the coming weeks.

The deployment comes alongside reports that up to 10,000 additional US troops are being sent to the Middle East as tensions with Iran persist.
