American Airlines has resumed scheduled service to Haiti after a pause of roughly two years, restoring a U.S. commercial air link to the country.

The carrier launched daily nonstop flights between Miami International Airport and Cap-Haitien, a city in northern Haiti. Service to the capital, Port-au-Prince, remains suspended.

U.S. airlines halted flights to Haiti in November 2024 after three commercial aircraft operated by American Airlines, JetBlue and Spirit were struck by gunfire near Port-au-Prince, prompting restrictions from the Federal Aviation Administration.

American said the return marks its 100th destination in its Latin America and Caribbean network.
