The United Arab Emirates prosecutor general said the co-pilot of flydubai flight FZ1073 attempted to carry out a 'terrorist act' during the flight, which was travelling from Dubai International Airport to Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv, Israel.
On 30 September 2026, the co-pilot attacked the captain inside the cockpit using the aircraft's crash axe and attempted to take control of the plane, according to investigators.
The aircraft had 182 people on board, and the incident nearly caused the plane to crash before passengers and others rushed in and subdued the co-pilot.
The UAE is leading the investigation into the incident, which authorities have described as an attempted terrorist attack.
