The pilot of a single-engine Lancair IV-P was killed Wednesday morning, 7 October 2026, when the aircraft crashed and caught fire near Hicks Airfield in north Fort Worth, Texas.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the aircraft went down near West Bonds Ranch Road, a short distance from the airfield. The pilot was the only person on board.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are investigating the cause of the crash.
