A vintage single-engine airplane made an emergency landing in a farmer's field near Deer Road in the Town of Addison, Wisconsin, on Saturday after its engine failed mid-flight.
The aircraft, a 1941 Aeronca Super Chief, came down in a field near the 5100 block of Deer Road in Washington County. The 67-year-old pilot and his adult male passenger escaped without injury.
During the approach, the pilot made a sharp turn to avoid an embankment, and the aircraft's left wing struck the ground and sustained damage. The National Transportation Safety Board classified the event as a substantial-damage accident because of the wing damage.
