Washington Governor Bob Ferguson has announced a new tax credit intended to accelerate the state's emerging sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) industry.

The measure is also aimed at reducing pollution, reflecting the lower lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions that sustainable aviation fuel is designed to offer compared with conventional jet fuel.

Washington is home to a major aerospace and aviation manufacturing sector, which gives the state a base of industry activity that a growing SAF supply chain could support.
