Wing Aviation, the drone delivery subsidiary of Alphabet, announced it is investing up to $125 million in direct manufacturing over the next two years at a new 15,000-square-foot facility in Fort Worth, Texas.
The company said the site will create up to 100 new modern manufacturing jobs and will have the capacity to build tens of thousands of aircraft each year, supporting the expansion of its drone delivery service across the United States.
Wing, which began in 2012 at Alphabet's X Moonshot Factory, earned the nation's first Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate for drone operations in 2019. The company says it has completed more than one million deliveries to U.S. homes this year alone.
CEO Adam Woodworth said the United States is the company's focus for growth, and the investment is part of advancing American aviation innovation as Wing builds its commercial momentum.
